When it comes to protecting tanks, bunds, Pools, Roofs & Floors, two leading systems dominate the conversation: Polyurea (Spray-Coat) and GRP Glass Reinforced Plastic laminates (Glass-Line). While both offer durability, they’re designed for different applications.
At Tankline, we apply both systems depending on the client’s needs. Here’s a brief breakdown to help you choose the best solution for your specific project.
What is Polyurea?
Polyurea is a spray-applied elastomer that is touch dry in seconds to form a seamless, flexible membrane. It’s perfect for rapid installations, large areas, and projects needing minimal downtime.
What is GRP?
GRP is a hand-applied laminate system, typically involving layers of resin-impregnated glass fibre matting, cured to form a rigid, chemically resistant surface. It’s widely used in structural tank linings bunds in poor condition and harsh chemical environments.
When to Use Polyurea
Choose Spray-Coat Polyurea when:
- You need fast turnaround and minimal disruption
- The structure may move, flex, or crack
- You’re lining a large open area like a bund, floor, or roof
- You want a seamless, waterproof finish
When to Use GRP
Go for Glass-Line (GRP) when:
- You’re dealing with structural damage
- Aggressive Chemical Storage or contact
- Long-term reinforcement or strengthening of the Substrate is required
- Accessibility is an issue
Tankline Offers Both – So You Don’t Have to Compromise
Unlike some contractors who only specialise in one system, Tankline offers both GRP (Glass-Line) and Polyurea (Spray-Coat), so we can recommend the best solutions.
Whether you’re lining a steel process tank, a leaking concrete bund, or refurbishing chemical containment zones, we assess the site, the substrate, and the environmental demands before proposing the most cost-effective, long-lasting option for your assets
